Daisy Award Recipient

May 10, 2017

Congratulations to Molly Klatt, RN, who received the Daisy Award. Molly was nominated by one of her peers in the Family Birth Center and was presented the award at the Nurses Day Recognition Breakfast in May. "Molly was destined to be a nurse. She takes such good care of her patients and makes them feel like they're the only people on the unit," says her co-worker. "She cares about everyone and goes out of her way to make sure everyone is taken care of. She is just so passionate about what she does."

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, the family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and them. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to his nurses in a very public way. This recognition award has now been embraced by healthcare organizations around the world.
