Connie Buss, Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator at Boone County Hospital, completed training and passed examinations for the “Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management” program held in Kansas City in late October. The program was offered by the American Dietetic Association and its Commission on Dietetic Registration and provided 28 continuing education hours. The training included health issues affected by excessive weight, the clinical management of obesity, realistic weight goals, popular diets and weightloss programs, the role of physical activity in weight management, bariatric surgery and pharmacotherapy treatment options, behavior modification, and medical complications of weightloss.
“Weight management makes an impact on all aspects of health,” says Connie. “My role as a dietitian is to guide each individual into setting realistic nutrition and physical activity goals and assist them in implementing those goals.”
