A group of Boone County Hospital nurses have been trained as Level I Healing Touch Instructors. Healing Touch is a healing that uses hands-on and energy-based techniques to balance and align the human energy field. It uses touch on or above the body to influence the human energy system. Body, mind, emotion and spirit are touched through this therapeutic process, and each individual is empowered to participate in his or her healing journey. It is a relaxing energy therapy used in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, hospices, accident scenes, schools, delivery rooms, and home.
The goal of Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the human energy system by creating an optimal environment for the body to heal. Through the program, individuals will gain an in-depth understanding and practice of energetic work using scientifically supported techniques that complement conventional medical as well as other therapeutic treatments.
In the patient room, patients lie or sit fully clothed and the practitioner works above or on the body with light touch to balance the energy. Localized treatments can take as little as 20 minutes to promote relaxation or wound healing. Full body technique interventions can last around 45 minutes.
Research studies suggest that there are a variety of benefits from Healing Touch. It promotes reduction of anxiety and stress, pain management, and helps restore harmony of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. The program can also help in other areas such as: increased relaxation, accelerated wound/fracture healing, aid in preparation before and after medical/surgical procedures, support for the dying process, neck and back problems, hypertension, headaches, and more. |
