Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy incorporates the therapeutic use of work, self-care, and play activities to increase independent function, enhance development, and prevent disability. It helps people learn or relearn the skills essential to everyday life. The goal of occupational therapy is to return people to maximum independence and improve their quality of life.

Occupational therapy provides specialized training in the areas of exercise, fine motor tasks, self-care skills, and retraining for acute and chronic medical conditions, helping patients to return to their previous level of independence. Our occupational therapists work closely with the patient, the patient’s family, and his/her physician to develop an individualized treatment plan that best suits the patient’s needs.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists work with a wide variety of diagnoses and injuries dealing with orthopedic and neurological disorders. Our team helps improve patients’ strength, balance, endurance, and range of motion to achieve maximum possible independence.

Experienced therapists utilize the highest quality equipment available for patient care. Treatments include functional mobility training, therapeutic exercise, pain management, wound care, custom foot orthotics, and education on daily living activities. Appropriate application of modalities, such as moist heat, ultrasound, whirlpool, paraffin, and massage to decrease pain and therapeutic exercise, are important to achieve the individual goals established by the patient/therapist/physician team.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy provides evaluation and treatment of language, cognition, voice, articulation, fluency, and swallowing to children and adults with delays or disabilities. It helps each person work toward increased functioning and independence in their daily lives by providing therapeutic strategies that are specific to each person’s needs. Our speech pathologist works with each individual to establish goals and develop a program to achieve maximum results.

Speech pathologists specialize in human communication, its normal development, its disorders, and the prevention of future disorders. Our speech pathologist can identify, assess and provide treatment for individuals with speech, language, cognitive/communicative, and swallowing disorders.

Women's Health Program

The Women's Health Program involves physical therapy to assist with incontinence and prolapse due to pelvic floor weakness. Studies show 36% percent of women over the age of 45 years suffer from incontinence.

The technology used in the program is biofeedback. Both patient and physical therapist are able to observe pelvic floor contraction and relaxation on a computer screen via a small internal sensor. Goals can be set using measured outcomes and then will be monitored during each session.

Because this can be a sensitive issue, all evaluations and treatments occur in a private room created for the comfort of the patient.

For an appointment for any of the above therapies, please call Rehab Services at 432-7729.
