Skilled Nursing

Skilled Nursing Services is a level of care that provides patients with rehabilitation services that must be performed by, or under the supervision of, professional personnel such as a registered nurse and licensed physical, occupational, or speech therapists. Skilled services must be required on a daily basis and must be performed on an inpatient basis.
To qualify for this level of care, a physician must certify that you need, and actually receive, these services on a daily basis. A previous hospital stay of at least three consecutive days is required.
These services can be provided depending on the patient's needs:

24-hour nursing care |

Physician visits |

Nutritional counseling by a registered dietitian |

Rehabilitation provided by physical, occupational, speech, and/or respiratory therapists, when ordered by a physician |

Drugs, medical supplies, blood transfusions, lab services |

Daily activities coordinated by the hospital's activity director |

Discharge planning |
Upon discharge, other services can be arranged to assist each patient at home. These may include but are not limited to: home care services, meals on wheels, and lifeline.
