Vaccination Still Needs to be a Priority
The flu season is still upon us. The Iowa Department of Public Health, the Center’s for Disease Control and Boone County Public Health expect another round of the H1N1 flu virus, as well as the seasonal flu virus to start appearing. There is still time to be vaccinated. Many parents have a false sense of security in regards to their children being protected from the flu. If you have a child six months through 9 years of age it is important they receive their H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines. If they have already received one dose of the H1N1 vaccine, it is important they receive a second dose so they are protected from severe illness. If you have children 10 to 18 years, they only need one H1N1 vaccination, same as an adult, as well as the seasonal flu vaccine.
Help protect your loved ones, as well as the high risk groups who could become seriously ill if you spread the virus to them. Please contact your physician or Boone County Public Health at (515) 432-1127 or (800) 395-9737 to schedule an appointment for the H1N1 vaccine and/or the seasonal flu vaccine. Thank you for helping us keep our community well! |
