Position Description: Certified Pharmacy Technician
Status: Full-Time - 30-40 Hours per Week.
Shift Time Schedule: Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; Monday thru Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Days: Sunday thru Thursday
Education: High School diploma require. Certified Pharmacy Technician in good standing. Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Iowa. Certified as a Pharmacy Technician through the PTCB.
Experience: At least 6 months retail experience. Basic math skills needed. Basic computer skills needed. Ability to work well in a small team environment. Ability to manage constant interruptions.
Duties Include: Deliver meds/rounds; Fill meds to be checked by staff pharmacist; inventory and refill floor stock and emergency carts/crash carts; check in and stock orders - reorder as required; enter charges into the computer; credit returned meds; deliver controlled substances and narcotic sheets to nursing station; repackage medication, prepare accurate and sterile IV orders; maintain organized, accurate and sufficient inventory; complete and document all assigned medication storage area inspections monthly; inspect assigned Pharmacy area for outdates monthly; complete projects as required/assigned; answer phones, direct calls and/or take messages; maintain safety, integrity and professionalism of the pharmacy; assist with annual physical inventory; comply with critical access hospital policies and procedures; enter new and refill functions related to employee prescriptions; become competent in Pyxis/PARx utilization.
Position Summary: Perform under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Ensure availability and delivery of medications to authorized locations and personnel. Prepare and repackage medications accurately. Maintain in-date inventory of medications. Record and charge supplies and medications to the correct patient location or account.
