RN, LPN, CMA - BCCSC - Surgery Clinic - Full-Time - Days

Education: Registered Nurse (RN), License Practical Nurse (LPN), current license in the State of Iowa or current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification. Must be a valid license/certification.

Experience: This position will be the primary clinical support for a busy Foot/Ankle Surgeon. Previous experience in a surgical setting/clinic a plus.

Duties Include: Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standard. Greets patients and prepares them for examination, procedures and treatments. Aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. Identifies the need for pre-authorization and/or  physician referral. Removes sutures, clean wounds and apply dressings as directed by physician. Observes, records, and report patient's conditions and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician. Responsible for obtaining and documenting medical histories, current medication lists, immunizations and vital signs in the medical record. Collection and preparation of specimens. Preforms diagnostic tests as ordered by provider (example: EKG, PFT) and for which training has been given. Schedules referral appointments and distributes patient education information as directed by the physician/provider. Maintains physician schedule including outpatient procedures, clinic times, vacations and meetings. Keeps exam and treatment rooms clean and properly stocked with supplies.
