Department: Outpatient Infusion Center
Position Description: Registered Nurse (RN)
Shift Time Schedule: 40 hours per week; 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Days: Monday thru Friday
Education: Associate's degree or BS, BSN, BA or equivalent from two year college or technical school. Current Valid Iowa Registered Nurse License must be in good standing.
Experience: Previous Port/PICC/ Central line management experience preferred. Must have a working knowledge of computers, excellent customer service and communication.
Position Summary: Responsible for Registered Nurse (RN) duties in relation to clinic physician support, outpatient infusions and injections.
Assist with patient treatment plan
Provides and maintains effective communication with members of the health care team to facilitate safe, effective and appropriate patient care.
Responsible for creating a culture of innovation, learning, teamwork, and professional practice, consistent with the mission, vision and values of Boone County Hospital.
Maintains performance in compliance with State and Federal laws, consistent with high standards of business and professional ethics.
Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding requirements in conjunction with submission of insurance claims.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist in providing care appropriate to the ages of the patients served (Neonate to Geriatric) within the department (Please refer to the Scope of Practice and staffing guidelines in the department Plan of Care).
Administers and or supervises prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
Administers Chemotherapy as directed by physician.
Places patient’s in exam room, conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs including height and weight as needed and records information on patient’s charts.
Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
Oversees triage and scheduling of appointments. Schedules all infusions/injections.
Obtains x-ray and other medical records as needed and performs some clerical work, such as answering phones and patient registration duties.
Actively supports and participates in continuous quality improvement efforts.
Maintains professional growth and development.
Assists with Employee Health functions.
