BCH and Clinics...Positive Changes
Boone County Hospital, Boone County Family Medicine (BCFM), Boone and Ogden, and the Madrid Family Practice Clinic are excited about the many changes that have taken place over the summer and the changes that are yet to come this fall.
For residents and visitors in and around Boone County, the new After Hours Clinic has been a positive addition to the community. The clinic opened in July and has been a great service for those unexpected health care issues that always seem to arise in the evenings or on weekend. The clinic is currently open Monday through Friday, 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the West Clinic (main floor) of BCH. For minor illnesses and conditions that can be treated in the clinic, log on to www.boonehospital.com. No appointment is needed. “We are looking forward to expanding our services later this fall when the clinic moves across the street to BCFM North, currently the UnityPoint building,” says Kim Schwartz, Assistant Administrator of Physician Clinics. “On November 1, the building will officially be owned and operated by BCH. Shortly after that, the hours will expand to full days/evenings seven days a week.
BCFM in Ogden wished long-time physician Dr. Richard Vermillion well on his retirement at the end of July. The staff at the clinic is looking forward to the addition of Dawn Tingwald, ARNP, in October. In the meantime, Dr. Caleb Glawe and the staff will help patients meet their healthcare needs. BCH will officially own the Ogden building in January 2017. “Our roots are in Ogden and we are happy to officially own the building and look forward to the future of healthcare in Ogden. We’ve been here for 55 years, and plan to provide healthcare for many more years to come,” says Keith Vermillion, BCFM Clinic Manager.
As UnityPoint gets ready to leave the Boone community, the hospital is excited to have three of their physicians join BCFM. Dr. Sascha Parsons joined BCFM South, 1115 South Marshall Street, in July. Dr. Trishia Filipiak joined BCFM North, 120 South Story Street, in August, and Dr. Brian Mehlhaus will be joining BCFM North on November 1st. In addition to Tingwald who is joining the Ogden Clinic, Josh Chrisopulos, PA-C, is joining the Madrid Family Practice Clinic in Madrid in October. These two providers will also provide care in the After Hours Clinic. “We are currently in the process of hiring three more providers," says Schwartz. "In the interim, we are happy to have locum tenens Dr. Julie Heaton and Dr. Mercy Okoye working in the North Clinic. They will make a great addition.”
“We’re excited about our recent changes and the changes to come this fall,” says Schwartz. “It shows the community we’re growing and expanding services to meet the needs of our residents, as well as visitors. We hope having a strong presence in Boone, Ogden and Madrid will reassure the Boone community that our goal is to meet their healthcare needs.”
