Project Be the Light (PBTL) continues to illuminate lives across Boone County, thanks to the incredible generosity and compassion of our community. This initiative provides financial relief to local families facing a cancer diagnosis and has been at the heart of several powerful fundraising events over the past year.
In October, Project Be the Light was chosen as the Fund A Need focus at the 2024 Harvest Festival. The response was overwhelming, with more than $67,000 raised in a single evening to support this vital cause.
The momentum carried into 2025. In January, the Wig Run Pub Crawl, organized by Kelli Casper of Bottled Bliss, brought the community together for fun and purpose. Participating stops—Bottled Bliss, Yoke’s Railhouse, Moose Lodge, VFW #817, Boone Valley Brewing, and Roosters—joined forces to raise funds and awareness, all while celebrating life and lifting spirits.
In February, Boone Edge students Avery Chesnut and Hendrix Moorman hosted a creative and joyful Silent Disco, turning music and movement into a mission of hope. Together, these events raised over $2,000 for Project Be the Light.
In April, the community once again came together for the 2nd Annual Glow Event at Goeppinger Field. Participants walked, ran, and reflected under the lights, creating an atmosphere filled with hope and support. With the help of volunteers, sponsors, and attendees, the event brought people of all ages together to raise awareness and funds for families facing the financial burdens of cancer.
Additional support came from the Boone High Track team, who generously donated proceeds from sponsorships at the Don Howard Invitational—an inspiring example of local youth stepping up to make a difference.
Each of these events is more than a fundraiser—they are powerful reminders of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose. We are deeply grateful for the continued support and remain committed to lighting the way for those who need it most.
