BCH Visitor Restrictions Have Been Updated

INPATIENT UNITS (Med/Surg/Peds & Family Birth Center) 

  • Visiting hours will be limited from 7am – 7pm. Visitors must be 18 years of age. 

  • We ask that visitors for inpatient units present to the main entrance (atrium) only during the weekdays. 

  • Two visitors per patient at a time will be allowed. This does not include the support person for the laboring patient until after the birth of the baby or a support person needed to assist with a patient’s physical or mental well-being while receiving care. All other persons should be considered visitors and comply with the visitor guidelines. 

  • Two parents/legal guardians at a time will be allowed for patients under the age of 18. 

  • All visitors/support persons will continue to follow screening procedures; anyone with symptoms of a respiratory infection (fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat) will not be permitted to enter the facility. 

  • All visitors/support persons must wear a face mask while visiting. Visitors who fail to agree to wear a mask will not be permitted to enter the facility. 

  • Visitors will not be allowed for Covid 19 positive patients or PUI patients unless the patient is imminently dying. 

  • A patient is receiving end of life cares – Visiting hours will not apply. Two visitors will be allowed at a time; visitors may rotate at the discretion of the clinical care team. Visitors under the age of 18 may be allowed at the discretion of the clinical care team. 

ER/SDS 

  • Emergency Department (ED) – Up to 2 visitors per patient will be allowed to support the care of the patient. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the care team. 

  • Surgical Services – Up to 2 visitors will be allowed with the patient in the pre-surgical area, in waiting rooms through the duration of the patient’s surgery, and in the post-surgical care area until the patient is discharged home OR is admitted to an inpatient nursing unit. 

  • A support person may be present in addition to a visitor if needed to assist with a patient’s physical or mental well-being while receiving care. All other persons should be considered visitors and comply with the visitor guidelines. 

Physician Clinics and Outpatient Departments: 

In all situations: 

One adult (18 of age and over) designated caregiver will be allowed to accompany the patient and must pass screening guidelines and wear a face mask. Those who fail to agree to wear a mask or do not pass the screening process will not be permitted to enter the facility. 

  • If the patient is a minor (under the age of 18 years) one parent / designated caregiver / guardian at a time will be allowed. 

  • Final decisions regarding access will be made at the discretion of the patient’s attending physician in coordination with the clinical care team. 

Language interpreters, clergy/chaplains, and manufacturers’ representatives required to manage devices during testing or procedures are treated as members of the care team and will be permitted access.
