Boone County Hospital is proud to offer specialized pulmonary care close to home through our Specialty Clinic. Two board-certified pulmonologists—Dr. Jame Mallen and Dr. Ryan Mertens—visit the clinic each month to provide expert evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of lung and respiratory conditions.

Drs. Mallen and Mertens bring advanced clinical expertise in areas such as general pulmonary medicine, bronchoscopy, Ion bronchoscopy, and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). Their practice includes managing complex respiratory illnesses, conducting minimally invasive diagnostic procedures, and helping patients navigate the emotional and physical challenges that can come with breathing difficulties.

Both physicians are passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals experiencing shortness of breath, chronic cough, asthma, COPD, and other pulmonary disorders. They understand that respiratory problems can be overwhelming and are committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
