Congratulations to Three BCH Departments

November 29, 2017

The Diabetes Center recently renewed its status as an accredited diabetes education program by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), a National Accredited Organization (NAO), certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This allows anyone with diabetes in and around Boone increased access to high quality diabetes education services. Diabetes education is a collaborative process through which people with or at risk for diabetes gain the knowledge and skills needed to modify behavior and successfully self-manage the disease.

The Emergency Department (ED) received reverification of their Level IV Trauma Care Certification. The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma sets the standards for the four levels of trauma programs to improve care of injured patients. Part of the reverification process incudes submitting policies and procedures related to our trauma care, documentation of our review process for trauma patients, process improvement data, and a host of other data.

The Home Health Care (HHC) team received their CMS 3-star rating (out of 5). The star ratings are determined using nine measures of quality that are reported on the HHC website. To qualify, agencies much have submitted data to calculate at least 5/9 measures. The ratings are very competitive and to receive 5 stars, your overall scores in some of the categories must be 99.1% or better.
