IHA Hospital Hero
The Iowa Hospital Association's Hospital Hero Awards celebrate employees who have acted courageously in a crisis or have selflessly served their hospitals and communities throughout their careers. At its annual meeting Oct. 7-8 in Des Moines, the Iowa Hospital Association recognized 11 hospital employees who exemplify the passion and purpose of the community hospital mission.
At the heart of every hospital are people whose dedication and resilience quietly power the entire organization. Justin Neely, Director of Facility Operations and Environmental Services at Boone County Hospital, is one such person – a true Hospital Hero.
Justin is known as a dependable, solutions-focused leader who keeps the complex operations of the hospital running safely and smoothly. From infrastructure and engineering to cleanliness and sanitation, his leadership ensures that patients, families and staff have a safe, healing environment.
But what truly sets Justin apart is not only his professional excellence, but also his strength and resilience through unimaginable hardship. A little over a year ago, Justin lost his wife to cancer. In the face of profound grief, he showed up for his team, for his colleagues, and most importantly, for his two young daughters.
Even as his family continues to face new challenges, Justin remains steady, humble and selfless. He leads by example, collaborating with his team, answering calls at all hours and investing deeply in those around him.
Justin’s quiet strength, compassion and unwavering commitment inspire everyone who knows him. For his courage, his leadership and his dedication to his family at home and his hospital family, we are proud to honor Justin Neely as a true Hospital Hero.
