McFarland Physicians Donate Money to BCH Food Pantry
Through the generosity of the McFarland Clinic physicians, a check for $1,500 was presented to Boone County Hospital’s (BCH) Director of Professional Development Rick Petersen to be used in purchasing supplies for the BCH Food Pantry. Pictured presenting the check is Dr. Joseph Merchant, McFarland Oncology-Hematology, and his nurse Cindy. Over a dozen McFarland physicians provide services at BCH.
The Pantry supports BCH employees in a time of need, and if a patient expresses a need, an employee can go to the Pantry to get groceries for the patient. The Food Pantry opened in 2017. At that time, the Employee Assistance Program was helping to support employees that were going through a difficult time, and because there were so many requests for groceries, the Food Pantry was opened. In late 2022, a new freezer was donated to the Pantry, so now things such as meat, veggies and bread are able to be frozen.
