New Electronic Cleaning Devices at BCH

Thanks to the Boone County Hospital Foundation, Boone County Hospital (BCH) began using advanced electronic cleaning devices in January to enhance the disinfection of patient rooms and areas. The BCH Foundation generously purchased these devices for the hospital, significantly improving the safety and efficiency of our infection control efforts.
The new Ultraviolet C (UVC) Disinfection machines were rolled out at BCH in January as part of a broader strategy to improve patient safety and cleanliness. These devices work in conjunction with standard cleaning protocols to effectively inactivate harmful microorganisms in both the air and on surfaces. The UVC technology, provided by Skytron, uses smart technology to ensure the correct dose of UVC light is delivered to all surfaces, helping to reduce infection rates and operational costs.
The Skytron 2280 Syndicate system allows BCH to utilize two devices simultaneously, treating two different locations at the same time. Since UVC light cannot penetrate surfaces, the two devices can be placed in separate areas of a single room, ensuring comprehensive disinfection in just one cycle.
“We’re excited to have this new technology at BCH,” said Laura Krieger, BCH Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). “It will maximize whole-room disinfection, improve efficiency, and help us maintain the safest possible environment for both our patients and employees.”
